Teaching Tips 1) Be flexible and creative in your approach to this material. Alter the lessons to fit your needs and classroom. 2) Insist on respectful listening to other’s opinions and beliefs, even if there is not agreement. Help students see the importance and value of listening without judgment. 3) Encourage dialogue and discussion. Use the curriculum as a jumping off point but listen to the students concerns and interests. When appropriate allow them to steer the conversation where they want it to go. Students can learn a great deal about relationships by being in dialogue about them. 4) If you get stuck, pull a random card from the Things to Know Before You Say “Go” deck and consult the Additional Questions in Appendix 3. See if any of those questions can stir an interesting conversation. ACTIVITY BOOK VII COPYRIGHT © 2011 BY ELSBETH MARTINDALE
